Zinc, nickel rise on industrial demand, global cues

zinc and nickel prices firmed up by Rs 2 per kg at the local market today on increased demand from consuming industries amid a firming global trend.

Traders said sentiment boosted after zinc rose in global markets ahead of data showing increased housing construction n the US and a stimulus decision by the European Central Bank.

Meanwhile, zinc for delivery in three months rose 0.2 per cent to USD 2,105 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, zinc ingots and nickel (4x4) moved up by Rs 2 each to Rs 118-124 and Rs 1080-1085 per kg respectively.
 

Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg):

Zinc ingot 118-124, Nickel plate (4x4) 1,080-1,085, Gun metal scrap 227, Bell metal scrap 229, Copper mixed scrap 404, Chadri deshi 285.

Lead ingot 106, Lead imported 107, Aluminium ingots 164, Aluminium sheet cutting 165, Aluminium wire scrap 167 and Aluminium utensils scrap 164.
