Zinc prices went up by 0.39 per cent to Rs 179.30 per kg in futures trade today as speculators build up of fresh positions, driven by pick up in demand in the spot markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in August edged up by 70 paise, or 0.39 per cent to Rs 179.30 per kg in business turnover of 1,519 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in September was enquiring higher by 55 paise, or 0.31 per cent to Rs 179.15 per kg in 30 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions created by participants due to pick-up in demand from consuming industries in the physical markets, mainly influenced zinc prices at futures trade.
