REUTERS - U.S. stocks open higher on Thursday, buoyed by retail companies, although caution prevailed ahead of the start of the annual gathering of central bankers at Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 34.68 points, or 0.16 percent, to 21,846.77. The S&P 500 gained 4.4 points, or 0.18 percent, to 2,448.44. The Nasdaq Composite added 16.86 points, or 0.27 percent, to 6,295.27.
