Basic Services Firms Seek 20-Yr Licences

A 10-member delegation of the Telecom Industry and Service Association yesterday put forward these demands in a presentation to some members of the standing committee of Parliament on communications. The 10-member industry delegation was led by TISA president P K Sandell.

The meeting was organised to apprise the committee of the contentious issues facing private entry into telecom services in the country. The presentation which lasted over an hour covered issues ranging from financing of telecom projects to issues of interconnection among operators and the telecom department.
