Bengal Traders To Come On Net

Software company Techna is putting local traders on the Net . We have had two meetings with the West Bengal industry minister, Bidyut Ganguly, and we won't be charging the government any money for hosting public sector undertakings or any of their project on our web-site, Alo Ghosh, president of the company said.
We will be charging the private sector a very nominal fee for hosting them on our web-site, he added. The company is investing Rs 1 crore from its internal accruals. Techna plans to target the jute, leather, cast iron and software industry.
The company's chief source of income will be from advertisements and private companies who will be hosted on the web-site. It also plans to approach fund managers for investments.

The West Bengal government will take charge of the publicity for this facility. The government and Techna will finalise the deal on March 15. The facility will go on-line by July.
Techna is also in talks with two Japanese firms for setting up a joint-venture. The company will have a minority stake in the venture.
