Budget Presentation Advanced To Mar 27

THE BUSINESS Advisory Committee of the Delhi Assembly today decided that the Delhi Budget be presented on March 27. The date has been advanced by a day. The Budget Session of the Delhi Assembly will begin from March 22 and continue till April 7. The Government will present its first-ever economic survey on March 23.
Initially, it was being said that the Budget will be presented on March 28. The date has been advanced by a day after pressure from the Opposition that there should be more days for discussing the Budget proposals.
The BJP maintained that two days were not enough to study the Budget and hold a discussion on it. The Budget has to be passed by March 31. On the economic survey, Finance Minister Mahender Singh Saathi said this was the first time that the Delhi Government was bringing such a comprehensive document on the state of the city's economy.

Various short duration discussions that will be introduced in the forthcoming session were cleared in the Business Advisory Committee meeting. Among the topics that have been listed are pension for the elderly, increase in the price of DMS milk, drastic cut in food subsidy by the Central Government, "selective demolitions" being carried put by the civic agencies and the electricity and water supply in the city. Congress MLAs will move a motion against the Constitution review that is being proposed by the Central Government.
Later, there was a meeting of the Private Members' Committee where private resolutions and bills that will be admitted in the House were cleared. The Assembly Secretariat has been flooded by Private Members' resolutions that will be introduced every Friday.
There is no clear picture of the Government Bills that are going to be introduced in the House. The two Bills, which are definitely, going to be introduced are the Languages Bill and Historical Monuments Bill.
These are the only two Government Bills that have been cleared by the Delhi Cabinet as pof now. the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Blood Bank organised a blood donation camp at the Rajkumari Amrit Kaur out patient department (OPD) on Wednesday.
To educate the public and to get maximum participation, an audio-visual programme on the utility of blood donation was presented during the camp. But the camp managed to get only 75 units of blood. Chief Medical Officer, blood transfusion, Dr Usha Gupta, this being a lean period, the hospital needed as much voluntary donations as it possible.
