Bullish Sentiment Prevails

NSE REPORT

The trading sentiment on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) improved further on account of the bullish sentiment prevailing in the market. The NSE-50 index closed at 1104.60 points gaining 23.50 points over the previous close of 1081.10.

The Midcap index closed at 1159.95, (1135.55), gaining 24.40 points. According to sources, the ITC hogged the limelight with the scrip closing at Rs 496.15 against the previous close of Rs 486.60. The total traded turnover at this counter touched Rs 444.42 crore. During the intra-day trading the scrip crossed Rs 500-mark and touched Rs 502.50.

The total traded turnover on the NSE touched Rs 1,612.41 crore with nearly 6 crore shares exchanging hands. The pivotals which jumped up during in intra-day trading were, HDFC which touched a high of Rs 3550 and Glaxo a high of Rs 355.

 

Hectic activity was witnessed at the Lakme counter with the scrip closing at Rs 427.05 against the previous close of Rs 403.55. The scrip also touched an intra-day high of Rs 431.80. The RIL scrip continued its bullish run closing at Rs 317.30 against the previous close of Rs 313.60. The total traded turnover touched Rs 322.78 crore.

The top five gainers were, MRPL which closed at Rs 17.70 (Rs 16.50), Essar Steel at Rs 13.65 (Rs 12.75), Andhra Valley Power, at Rs 96.10 (Rs 89.80), Tata Power at Rs 143.65 (Rs 134.35) and Relinace Petroleum at Rs 15.60 (Rs 14.60).

Among the top five losers were, Tata Chemicals at Rs 149.85 (Rs 151.75), Gujarat Ambuja at Rs 276.25 (Rs 278.35) BSES at Rs 239.85 (Rs 241.60).

Hectic trading was also seen in State Bank of India (Rs 307.73 cr), Tisco (Rs 97.22 cr), Telco (Rs 92.34 cr), ACC (Rs 40.55 cr), Hindustan Lever Ltd (Rs 23.31 cr), Tata Tea (Rs 23.22 cr), L&T (Rs 21.65 cr), Hind Petrol (Rs 14.56 cr), Bhel (Rs 12.79 cr), MTNL (Rs 12.4 cr), Bank of India (Rs 9.98 cr), Ongc (Rs 9.65 cr), Bajaj Auto (Rs 8.01 cr), Castrol (Rs 6.88 cr), Infosys (Rs 6.76 cr), ICICI (Rs 5.74 cr), IDBI (Rs 4.96 cr), Bpcl (Rs 4.87 cr) and BoB 6pd up (Rs 4.24 cr) counters.
