Corporate Savings Up To 3.7%

The Central Statistical Organisation's (CSO) quick estimates (February 1996) had placed the rate of gross domestic savings (GDS) at 24.4 per cent of the GDP at current market prices in 1994-95, as against 21.4 per cent in 1993-94 and 21.2 per cent in 1992-93, the central bank notes in the Currency & Finance report.

Aggregate investment rate in 1994-95 would be 25.9 per cent. Public sector saving recovered to 1.7 per cent in 1994-95 after the downward drift to 0.5 per cent in 1993-94.

Private corporate savings rose from 2.8 per cent of GDP in 1992-93 to 3.7 per cent in 1993-94 and further to 4.0 per cent in 1994-95.
