Ctc Tea Tags Stay Flat-To-Easy

Orthodox tea prices ruled steady but crushed tear curl (CTC) tea prices were flat-to-easy on increased offerings and limited demand at various auctions in the country during last week.
Quality of the offerings was also poor leading to the fall in prices. Reluctance on the buyers part to purchase at higher levels also kept the prices on a tight leash.
In Calcutta, prices of most varieties declined with good CTC brokens flat at Rs 108/116 a kg. Medium and plain CTC brokens decline to Rs 97/102 and Rs 82/89 a kg respectively. Good CTC fannings improved at lower levels to be quoted at Rs 104/109 while medium and plain CTC fannings were quoted lower at Rs 95/100 and Rs 85/89 a kg.

Orthodox tea prices were generally flat though it tended to quoted higher for medium brokens. While good orthodox whole leaf and medium ones were quoted flat at Rs 100/110 and Rs 85/95 a kg, good orthodox brokens was flat at Rs 92/100. Medium orthodox brokens were quoted higher at Rs 80/90 a kg.
In contrast, the Guwahati auctions witnessed a general uptrend for almost all varieties. While good Assam brokens increased to Rs 104/108 a kg, its fannings were quoted at Rs 98/102 and dusts at Rs 104/108. Medium Assam brokens rose to Rs 95/100 but fannings slid to Rs 92/94, and dusts improved to Rs 94/98 While plain brokens and fannings witnessed an uptrend, dusts were flat at Rs 88/92 a kg.
Cachar tea witnessed a mixed trend with fannings and dust prices declining, and brokens price moving up to Rs 88/94 a kg.
In Kochi, prices of most varieties of orthodox tea rose but CTC prices slid on increased offerings.
Best Nilgiri leaf prices increased to Rs 105/115 a kg, larger Nilgiri broken to Rs 95/100, small Nilgiri broken to Rs 94/98, small medium broken to Rs 89/92 and Nilgiri fanning to Rs 96/99.
Prices of plain broken were flat at Rs 75/82 while medium fanning was easy at Rs 84/87 a kg. In CTC category, all prices were lower by Re one to Rs 1.50 per kg. In the dusts category, goods ones ruled easy while medium ones ruled steady-to-firm.
In Coonoor, prices were flat-to-easy on limited demand and increased offerings.
In Coimbatore, prices were firm by Re one with CTC prices being firm to barely steady. Orthodox leaf and dust prices were steady to firm.
