A feeling of well-being is necessary for human beings to survive. If a prisoner gets 10 lashes daily and the number is reduced to eight, his day is made.
The "feel good" factor, even if created by self-deception, is welcome. Today, stock prices net of inflation are around 35 per cent below the October 1994 peak. Business Standard knows this or is at least expected to know. But to create a sense of well-being by comparing net of inflation figures is not done. It is nothing but a charade. In any case, you may continue with it as it does make us less unhappy!
