Fifty-Fifty

The article Let the women decide by T CA Srinivasa-Raghavan (May 19) was quite interesting. Since the stress is on the female friend, I must compliment Mr Raghavan, as has been well said: All joys the man attend/who has a polished female friend.
Coming to quotas, let there be no quotas for eunuchs for most of our honourable MPs are alr-eady eunuch-like, stooping to deplorable depths for power.
In fact, 33 per cent quota for women is well worth a try. Does the world population or for that matter each household not have more or less a 50:50 male-female ratio? The unruly scenes in Parliament House are a national shame. It is hoped that greater representation for women in Parliament will lend the much needed charm and grace to the august House. But the women elected should be of impeccable character and at least graduates so that they can do justice to the people they represent.
