Hind Photo, Phil Corp Ink Alliance

Hindustan Photo Films Manufacturing Company Ltd and Phil Corporation Ltd have entered into a strategic marketing alliance. Hindustan Photo products will now be marketed under the brand name Indu-Phil.

According to the terms of the deal, Phil will exclusively market Hindustan Photo products which include medical and industrial X-ray film, graphic art film, processing chemicals, black and white bromide paper, black and white roll film in the 135 format .

While the alliance is expected to add Rs 100 crore to Phil's current Rs 300 crore turnover in 1999-2000, the move is expected to boost capacity utilisation at Hindustan Photo.

 

The state-owned Hindustan Photo has invested over Rs 850 crore in its manufacturing facilities. It has recently collaborated with United States-based major Du Pont for making medical and industrial X-ray and graphic art films.

"Phil's proven expertise in marketing and Hindustan Photo's wide experience in quality manufacturing come together with the strategic marketing alliance between these two companies.

"Consumers will surely benefit from this strategic marketing alliance which will bring out world-class medical X-ray film as also other products for professional photographers and the printing industry" said a release issued by the two companies.

Phil's strengths lie in imaging industry and speciality products. Its activities are divided into three units: Phil Photo, Phil Systems, Phil Speciality Products. PHIL is best-known for Konica products. It also makes products for Polaroid.

Hindustan Photo is an ISO 9002 public sector undertaking which makes photo products for health, defence, entertainment, mass communication and the printing industry.
