Ibm Training Centres In 13 Cities

IBM Corp has decided to launch training centres in 13 cities across the country through its joint venture, Tata Information Services Ltd (TISL).
In what marks IBM's first foray into the education and training business in the country, the world's largest computer company has joined hands with the Indian IIT, Kanpur, and Lotus Development.
IIT Kanpur has designed and customised some of the IBM courseware to suit the needs of the India. IBM's association with Lotus will mean that the centres would offer courses on all Lotus products including Lotus Notes.

"IBM centres will be located in Delhi, Calcutta, Pune, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Visakha-patnam, Vijaywada, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Madras, Thiruvana-nthapuram and Vadodara," said Ravi Marwaha, president and managing director, TISL.
With this, IBM brings to expertise in education acquired over 50-years of leadership in information technology education worldwide, said N Sekine, general manager education services, IBM Asia-Pacific. The centres will train nearly 6,000 persons every year to international standards. To monitor the training programme, it will introduce the systems approach to training and evaluation.
The Power User course is for those wishing to acquire a broad understanding of computers and the Application Developer course is for those who wish to become software designers, systems analysts or programmers.
