Former Union minister Karan Singh has favoured the Congress, now extending support to the United Front government at the Centre from outside, joining the coalition government.
Minority governments have emerged at the Centre. A peculiar phenomenon of extension of support from outside is being witnessed. Neither the supporter nor the receiver is happy and therefore, the party which extend support should take up the responsibility of joining the government, he said, speaking at a seminar on 50 years of independence the challenge and the response- organised here last evening by the International Womens Association.
Singh also spoke about the money and mafia powers in the elections and the growth of corruption.
Partial state financing of elections, compulsory voting and elimination of non-serious candidates would provide the answer to these ills facing the society, he added.
