P & G Vietnams Fate Hangs In Balance

The future of Procter & Gamble Cos stricken Vietnam venture hung in the balance yesterday amid last ditch efforts to stave off bankruptcy. Company executives told Reuters they were still hoping for a last minute resolution to the firm's problems ahead of a

critical board meeting due on Saturday. But with the hours ticking away there was no sign from either P&G, bankers, US officials or the company's local partner that a positive outcome to one of Vietnam's bloodiest recent foreign investor debacles was in sight.
