Pivotals Gain Marginally On Better Buying

Pivotal prices went up marginally on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) following better buying support from the various institutional investors yesterday.

Reflecting the better trend, the NSE-50 index opened at 1062.20, touched the days high of 1076.65, a low 1057.55 before closing at 1070.10 showing a net gain of 3.60 points over the previous close of 1066.50. The midcap index declined further by 1.6 to 1105.38 against the previous close of 1107.04. The business volume continued the down trend on the NSE and stood at Rs 1928.65 crore.

Hectic activity was observed at various counters led by Reliance Industries Rs 678.13 crore SBI Rs 489 crore, ITC Rs 404.92 crore, Tisco Rs 70.96 crore, ACC Ltd Rs 36.09 crore, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited Rs 30.13 crore, Telco Rs 26.05 crore, L&T Rs 19.53 crore, and Hindalco Rs 9.91 crore.

 

The top five gainers during the day were Besta vision Electronics, International Computech, Pfimex Pharma, Gujarat Borosil Ltd and Indian Seamless Steels.

The top five losers were Tainwala Chem, Taneja Aerospace and Avla, Mangalam Timber Products, Balnurghat Transport Growmore Solvent.

Meanwhile, share prices recovered slightly on the Over the Counter Exchange of India (OTCEI) yesterday. The composite index opened at 93.75 and closed at 93.61 showing an increase of 0.59 over its previous close of 93.02.

The total turnover reported during the day was Rs 119,06 lakh involving 3,17,450 shares and debentures.

Major contribution was from the listed debentures contributing Rs 106.03 lakh 9,150 debamong the other segments listed equity contributed Rs 12,60,515 3,05,250 shares.
