Pivotals Up Marginally

Pivotal prices improved further marginally over its previous level on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) yesterday. Reflecting the upward trend, the NSE-50 index opened at 1041.65, touched the day's high of 1049 and a low of 1036.25 before finally settling down at 1045, showing a gain of 3.35 points over the previous close of 1041.65.
Similarly, the Midcap index closed higher by 0.61 points to 1139.95 against the previous close of 1139.34. The total turnover reported during the day amounted to Rs 1526.19 crore.

According to sources, the market is likely to move in a narrow range in the coming days and would also remain relatively steady. The FIIs are still bullish and they are also investing in select investment in the side counters, said a NSE dealer.
Market witnessed hectic activity in the ITC scrip in the last half an hour. The scrip closed at Rs 421.25 as against the previous close of Rs 408.25. The scrip touched an intra-day high of Rs 427.50.
The market leader ITC stood first registering the highest turnover of Rs 601.83 crore, followed by SBI Rs 336.44 crore, Reliance Rs 206.14 crore, Telco Rs 64.01 crore, ACC Rs 49.44 crore and Bajaj Auto Rs 48.70 crore.
Hectic activity was witnessed at other counters like Tisco Rs 27.21 crore, BSES Rs 17.16, Bank of India Rs 13.83, L&T Rs 11.38, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd Rs 7.50 crore, HLL 7.42 crore, Bhel Rs 7.40 crore and Industrial Credit & Investment Corporation of India Rs 3.75 crore.
Meanwhile, among the top gainers were Tata Tea, ITC, Guj Ambuja Cement, Essar Steel and ICICI . The top losers were Cochin Refineries, Tata Chemicals, Thermax, IFCI and Bajaj Auto.
Meanwhile pivotals issues improved further on persistent speculation and support from financial institutions on the Over the Counter Exchange of India (Otcei).
The OTC composite index opened better at 84.46, reversed the trend to dip to a low of 83.93 but recovered again to close at the day's best level of 84.93, showing a gain of 0.54 over the previous close of 84.39. Agencies
