Probe Ordered Into Dumping Of Metallurgical Coke By Chinese Firms

The commerce ministry has initiated an anti-dumping investigation into import of metallurgical coke from China. The period to be covered under the investigation is April 1, 1996, to March 31, 1997.

The investigation has been started on the basis of a petition filed by BLA Industries on behalf of the domestic metallurgical coke industry.

It has been supported by the industry and commerce association whose members represent the manufacturers of metallurgical coke in India.

Meanwhile, the finance ministry has yet to take a decision on levy of anti-dumping duty on newsprint, despite the high court rejecting the plea of the newsprint consuming industry. It has also held back a final decision on levy of duty on graphite electrodes.
