SBT net up 24% in H1

State Bank of Travancore (SBT) posted a 24 per cent increase in net profit to Rs 317.07 crore in the first half of 2012-13 compared with Rs 256.2 crore in the same period last year.
Operating profit for the half-year stood at Rs 641.43 crore from Rs 580.4 crore for the corresponding period last year. Net interest income too was up 14 per cent to Rs 993.73 crore from Rs 874.21 crore while non-interest income increased to Rs 307.18 crore from Rs 298.91 crore. Net interest margin (NIM) stood at 2.5 per cent against 2.63 per cent in September 2011.
The capital to risk weighted assets ratio as on Sept 30, 2012, improved to 12.41 per cent (under Basel II) as against 12.18 per cent in September 2011.
