Schweppes Uncorks Crush, Canada Dry

Cadbury Schweppes launched its soft drink brands Crush and Canada Dry in Mumbai yesterday.

The launch was exactly two years after the 100 per cent subsidiary of Cadbury Schweppes Plc first entered the Indian market.

The company has tied up with a local bottler, Mc Coy Bottling Company Pvt Ltd, which is setting up a greenfield bottling unit for Mumbai and plans to invest Rs 40 crore in manufacturing and distribution infrastructure.

It has already put up a 300 bottles per minute carbonated soft drink line and a 60 bottles per minute non-carbonated water line.

The 100 bottles per minute PET line will go on line in April 1997. Plans are afoot for a can line also.

 

Launching the brands, Ashok Jain, country head of Cadbury Schweppes said Crush has managed to carve a niche for itself in the country in its two year existence by garnering a 25 per cent market share.
