Seven Private Power Proposals Await Nod

Domestic oil sector: Petroleum and natural gas minister TR Baalu informed the Rajya Sabha that a large number of foreign companies are keen to play a bigger role in the domestic oil sector. Virtually every big foreign oil company has either already begun operating or has made a proposal to do so. For instance, Mobil, Shell, Caltex, Nyco, Fuchs and Chevron have already tied up with public sector oil companies to undertake activities such as blending and marketing of lubricants. Other foreign companies keen on undertaking such activities include Castrol of UK, Elf of France, Gulf Oil NOC of Austria, Colla BIA Chem of the US and ENI of Italy.
