State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur registered a net profit of Rs 40.48 crore for the year-ended March 1997, an increase of 55 per cent over the previous year.
The bank's operating profit touched a new high at Rs 176.95 crore.
Deposits of the bank grew by 15.83 per cent to Rs 5397.6 crore while advances rose 23.06 per cent to Rs 3011.82 crore during the period.

The bank stepped up its priority sector lending by 26.22 per cent to meet the Reserve Bank of India's minimum stipulation of directing 40 per cent of the aggregate credit to the sector.
State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur said its priority sector lendings in the Rajasthan constituted 53.46 per cent of its credit deployment excluding investments.
Agricultural advances constituted 22.92 per cent of the total advances in the state.
The bank's export credit represented 13.08 per cent of the net credit against the stipulated the Reserve Bank of
India (RBI) norm of twelve per cent.
Similarly, the foreign exchange business stood at Rs 2982.12 crore, showing a 22.46 per cent growth despite a sluggish growth in international trade of the country, a release from the bank said.
