Back to the bizarre. From the Internet, along comes the revenge of the neighbour and the greatest scientific experiment ever on www.stinkymeat.net. The apparatus _a yellow plate with a packet of ground beef, hot dogs and steak bought on quick sale. The objective_to leave it on the neighbour's lawn and record the disintegration of the contents of the plate for posterity.
And what a record it is. Meat left to rot for a 19 days with daily updates and pictures to boot.
Days one to five are pretty uneventful. Gross is about as bad as it gets. Could it get worse than this? Yes, it could, but it is difficult to imagine it. Sure, there are white bits, presumably maggots, forming around the ground beef by Day Three. And there are a couple of ants trying to make a dent into the hot dogs. But the meat still looks like meat or at least one does not need a `reflex gag' while looking at the pictures.
Until it rains and the meat attains Putrid Perfection. The pictures get better or grosser depending on which side of the fence you sit on. For an experiment in grossness that lasted 19 days till the neighbour caught whiff of it, the site had a huge following. People logged on to the site everyday to follow the progress of stinkymeat and to offer words of advice to Stinkymeat in defence of his experiment. The question that remains unanswered is_what did the neighbour do to deserve this?
The sideburns legends hall of fame
There are those who contributed to noble causes and there are those who contributed to the cause of sideburns. Among those whose contributions remain the most noteworthy are Elvis Presley along with James Dean. However, sideburns, porkchops or whatever else you would like to call them, are not a 20th century phenomenon. They have been around since the time of the Roman and the Egyptians who have been known to glorify sideburns, or so the site insists. For those who seek more information, it is available on www.badburns.com.
There is an art gallery, a museum devoted to the greatest sideburns ever and even a section on news, which has Useless Information. Strange that the site makers would want to call it that considering that almost the whole site fits into the Useless Info category. There is also a picture gallery. Sideburn fans can log onto the site for a look at the celebrities who made it to the sideburns hall of fame.
Following the Microsoft saga
Today is supposed to be judgment day for Microsoft Corp. However, the company on Monday filed an additional brief in federal court, expanding on its argument against the US Justice Department's plan to break up the software giant due to antitrust violations. The website http://cnews.tribune.com/news/story/0,1162,kcpq-local-53432,00.html not only posts the latest update on the Microsoft saga but also lists additional information like excerpts from the Microsoft response to the breakup plan, the effect of the proposed breakup, the reason behind the proposed spilt and what have you. The good thing about the site is that it offers all the key information at a glance and obviates the need to spend time wading through excessive information.
