Apropos the ongoing debate between your columnists S S Tarapore and Deena Khatkhate, it has degenerated totally. While both are at liberty to hold diametrically opposed views on the Indian banking system and IBLs, and indeed deserve a forum such as your newspaper to air those views publicly, it ill behoves two mature men to upbraid each other publicly in such a childish fashion. All that these gentlemen are doing is to personalise professional issues. My heart bleeds at the thought that Indian banking policy is influenced by such persons, who make or have made far-reaching judgements and recommendations which affect all of us on the basis of personality clashes.
