Select scrips improved and finished with a moderate gain on the Madras Stock Exchange (MSE) yesterday. The MSE-index went up by 66.63 points to close at 3,702.26 points. Index-based scrips like HLL firmed up to Rs 1,407.50 as against previous close of 1,363.40, gaining Rs 44.10. ITC added Rs 18.05 at Rs 596.50, L&T increased by Rs 3.65 to Rs 192, Raasi Cement went up by Rs 10.15 to Rs 112.05, Rane Brakes by Rs 4 to Rs 163, RIL by Rs 2.55 to Rs 156.55, SBI by Rs 4 to Rs 241.50, Telco by Rs 2.15 to Rs 226.20. Ashok Leyland, Corp Bank, ICICI, Kar Bank, Sathyasm Computer and Tisco also gained marginally.

 

The main losers was index-based scrips like Madras Cement which slipped Rs 30 at Rs 3,130 on a single transaction. ACC by Rs 12.50 to Rs 1,293.10, Chemplast by Rs 2 to Rs 21, HDFC Bank by Rs 1.50 to Rs 68.10, Impal by Rs 5 to Rs 125 and Prem Inbst by Rs 3 to Rs 87. Sterlite slid by Rs 14.15 to Rs 143. D Square Soft and T N Petro were easier. Manjusdharee and PK Malai were in previous levels. The volume of transaction was low. UNI
