Wanted: Better Bank Managers

This attitude may not have mattered much if it had been confined to a few. But it is, in fact, the attitude of the majority. An important consequence of this has been that most bankers, after the first few years, stop acquiring new skills. And since this has now been happening for almost two decades, the result is that senior managements in many of the public sector banks lack the qualities which top executives should have. Although there are several honourable exceptions without whom the situation would have been even worse, by and large, mentally a large number of managers have become clerks.
