eelamweb.com has details of LTTE's latest adventure

The infobahn has place enough for everyone including terrorists or freedom fighters as some of them like to call themselves. Among the terrorist groups that are Net-savvy include the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. The group has posted information on the website called www.eelamweb.com. The site is obviously full of propaganda and it also has section addressed for the media where press releases are posted. The website details previous LTTE operations from Unceasing Waves I to its latest adventure, Unceasing Waves III.

The site traces the history of what it likes to call the oppression against the Tamils. Fairly exhaustive, the section has been divided into four parts and traces the root of the grievances against the dominant Sinhalese community. The site also has a brief section on LTTE's women combatants _ the Freedom Birds.

Interestingly, the site, in its section on National Leader, finds place for only Vellupillai Pirbhakaran. And that, too, not even a brief overview of what prompted him to start the movement, but just his picture. And provides detailed information on other websites that are linked to the LTTE.

Online summer school for kids

For the kids who get bored during summer vacations and love school, along comes www.classte-acher.com. The site has a whole range of activities lined up for students in its section called Summer School.

The site also addressees the queries of students on maths and physics by providing a link to the appropriate sites. And when it comes to students, how can Aunt Agony be far behind. Students are duly counseled on topics like violence in school, career streams to follow et al.

Parents and teachers are not spared counseling either. Both groups get pointers on how to become better at playing their respective roles. Parents are advised not to panic when they catch their teenaged son smoking and teachers are asked to be more patient with the weaker students.

And that is stating the obvious. The site also has a section on Classroom of the Month. A word of advice for classrooms that aspire for the title. Students need to be chirpy. In fact that is not good enough. They need to be very, very chirpy to be declared the Classroom of the Month.

Addressing health concerns online

Local content is increasing on the Internet and catering to the health needs of the Indian population is www.check4health.com. The site allows users to search for the hospitals, doctors, blood banks, nursing bureaus and what have you in Calcutta, Bombay, Bangalore, New Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad and Secunderabad. However, the database does not seem to be very exhaustive at present.

The site also provides information on various ailments, their symptoms and treatment. Interested users can also fill in the requisite information to find out their body mass index, their propensity towards depression and heart attacks. And then there is a not so small section on the human body, which not only lists the functions of various organs, but also the problems they are likely to suffer from
