Zero Tillage Tech By Pau

The zero tillage technology recently introduced by Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has the potential of saving around Rs 800 crore for the state.
This technology has already been adopted by the farmers in and around Malerkotla region and also by some farmers in Haryana. This technology is suitable for farmers in Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh. Zero tillage technology is suited for wheat sowing after harvest of paddy crop.
"It helps in saving a lot of energy required and also helps in reducing the time gap between paddy harvesting and wheat sowing and thus resulting in higher wheat yield with the same amount of fertilisers and other agro chemicals. Moreover, in the absence of the requirement of any tillage operation it would be possible to sow the wheat during the latter half of October and early November," said Ajit Singh Dhatt of PAU.
