Mphasis, an EDS company through its EDS Learning and Leadership Academy (ELLA) in Mangalore has successfully completed the training of nearly 1,000 graduates as of November 2007.
Set up in February this year, the academy focuses on training fresh engineering graduates for a career in information technology industry with an emphasis on real-life case studies and scenarios.
Speaking on the occasion, Jerry Rao, Chairman, Mphasis said trained human resource is a critical need of the IT industry.
Mangalore was chosen as a strategic location for the academy due to the availability of a large talent pool, strategic location in the south, geographic connectivity and superior infrastructure, he observed.
Concurring with the view that the appreciating rupee was a growing concern for all exporters especially for those in the IT industry, Rao said its effect would be felt on the operating margins. No 'hedging mechanism' could be deemed perfect under the circumstances, he explained.
The 'attrition factor' was bound to hit the IT Industry with new conceptions and innovations looming in the horizon, Rao said and added that the market cap of his company had touched the $1.4 billion mark.
