BSNL to extend LD facility to PCOs from April 1

The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) will extend national long distance calling facility to all PCOs from April 1, a senior official said today.
 
According to a press release from BSNL General Manager M K Sudarsanam, calls will be charged at Re one a unit. The facility will not be available in village panchayat public telephones with "95" dialling facility. The pulse rate for all calls to any network within Tamil Nadu and Puducherry would be 60 seconds.
 
Pulse rate for calls made to land line of other networks, landline and wireless local loop (WLL) of BSNL within 50km of other circles would be sixty seconds.
 
However,the pulse rate would be 20 seconds for calls made to BSNL cell phone, cell phone and WLL phone of other networks within 50km of other circles. The pulse rate for calls made to land line, WLL, cell and for all networks for more than 50km outside Tamil Nadu would be 20 seconds.
 
The BSNL customer service centres/collection centres in Madurai and Theni and Dindigul districts would function as usual on Telugu new year day which falls on March 19,the release said.
