California firm to provide solution to SNL Financial

Blue Coat Systems, Inc, a publicly-held company based in California, will provide Blue Coat SG appliances to Ahmedabad-based SNL Financial for its branches.

The company will provide the application to accelerate SNL Financial's full range of business applications in their branch offices in Ahmedabad as well as in Islamabad in Pakistan.

SNL Financial is a premier provider of multi-sector-focussed news, data and analysis in the financial information marketplace.

According to the company, it has acceleration technology which applies multiple techniques to reduce latency and bandwidth use for SNL Financial's distributed applications and file services.

Blue Coat SG appliances speeds up SNL Financial's applications and data while allowing them to keep their existing Wide Area Network (WAN) at its current bandwidth capacity.

As the WAN is based on an MPLS mesh network in a hub and spoke configuration, adding bandwidth capacity is an expensive proposition and would not address application latency issues due to the large distances between offices.

"Our platform manages bandwidth, accelerates prioritised applications and content and protects against Internet threats," said S Swaminathan, director of Blue Coat System.
