Maxtor to tap small businesses segment

Maxtor Corporation, suppliers of information storage solutions, plans to tap the small business and small office home office (SOHO) segment for Maxtor OneTouch range of storage devices.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday,Craig Davis, sales and marketing manager, branded products group for Asia Pacific, said that the increasing importance of storage and backup in today's digital lifestyle has led the company change its role.

"Most small businesses do not have an IT staff and rely on solutions that are easy to install and use, so extending our Maxtor OneTouch product for the small businesses server market is a natural fit," he added.

Maxtor OneTouch II small business edition supports 25 users and the drive is integrated with an exclusive version of EMC Dantz Retrospect express hard drive server software with open file backup support.

The company is targeting small office home office users, creative professionals, computer power users and digital content creators with Maxtor OneTouch II, FireWire 800 edition. The company is also planning to introduce Maxtor 500GB hard drives in India from the third quarter 2005.
