Chennai-based Raman Computer Pvt Ltd (RCPL) has introduced Edusys in Tamil Nadu. Edusys is an institution management software that aims at promoting paperless educational institutions.

In a press statement, Sheila Gandhi, regional director- Chennai, Nasscom, said that the ability to develop and utilise technology has always been of top importance but never than in today's rapidly-changing knowledge economy.

Governments world over are recognising the criticality of good education. Closer home, states like Tamil Nadu are giving a new thrust to school introducing policy measures to bridge the digital divide for educational institutions through an innovative public-private partnership for computer literacy.

Edusys is an efficient and cost-effective way to streamline operations, specially designed to help educational institutions optimise their functioning.

The institutions have the added-advantage of integrating various functional areas to maintain transparency and availability of right information at the right time. The software package caters to both schools and colleges.

The functional benefits of Edusys is that it provides online data entry and validation for all transactions, easy monitoring and control of all activities such as student admission, fee, attendance, inventory and payroll. This helps in fewer errors, improved speed and efficiency and statutory reports as required by the governing regulations.

S V Venkatesh, chief executive officer of RCPL, said that educational institutions spend a lot of time and resources in managing data dealing with their administrative work.

"Edusys will help educational institutions to concentrate more on academics rather than on administration. Keeping in mind the compatibility issues with Tamil medium schools, we have a Tamil version of the software," he added.
