Telecom software services provider Tanla Solutions today said it has deployed third generation value added services platform with the state-owned Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (MTNL), the first mobile operator to launch the next generation telecom services.

"Tanla now has the distinction of being the first company to have live services over a 3G network in India," the telecom software provider said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Tanla 3G Value Added Services (VAS) platform enables a number of video-based interactive applications like video IVR portals, video chat, SMS and alerts. It also enables service providers to enhance portal offerings with personalised video interactivity.

"We look forward to operationalising our international suite of products and services here in India. Tanla is helping operators to attract new users by offering the newest applications and services supported by third generation networks," Tanla Solutions Chairman and Managing Director Uday Reddy said.

MTNL yesterday launched the 3G services in Delhi to provide the subscribers an access to live TV, high speed data download and video streaming on mobile phone. It plans to extend the services in Mumbai by the end of next month.

Meanwhile, shares of Tanla Solutions surged 8.64 per cent to touch the day's high of Rs 76. It was later trading at Rs 75.50, up 7.93 per cent in the late afternoon trade on the BSE.
