Wipro Ltd has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PES Institutions, an engineering institution in Bangalore to take its ongoing collaboration with the Institution to the next level. This MoU is the first of its kind that Wipro is signing in the Karnataka region..
The MoU envisages a set of planned activities and interactions addressing various stakeholders including students, faculty and the management.
These activities and interactions include faculty development programmes, technical sponsorships and student workshops and many more.
For instance, one of the programmes is a student workshop structured with the primary goal of emphasising on the importance of creative thinking that is paramount to succeed in the corporate world today.
Speaking on the occasion Pradeep Bahirwani, Vice President - Strategic Resourcing, Wipro said, "the objective of this MoU is to build industry-academia relationship and empower students to gear up for the challenges of the corporate world."
Jawahar, CEO, PES Institutions said, "The MoU aptly fits into the Institute's Campus Wide Quality Improvement Programme. Students stand to benefit immensely out of the MoU as it provides them a platform to interact with Industry Experts. It will also help students in transition from academia to Industry while they are still on campus."
This move by Wipro to groom young talent at college levels follows similar initiatives by Honeywell when it tied up with Visvesvaraya Technological University in Belgaum to attract talent.
These strategies by Indian IT companies are expected to pay out in the long run as the software services industry is facing sort of a crisis as the rupee has been appreciating during the past one year.
