Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that rescuing all 41 workers, who were trapped inside an under-construction tunnel in Uttarakhand, proved that the country can do anything and everything to save the lives of its citizens.
Patnaik thanked the rescue team for evacuating the 41 labourers, including five from Odisha, from the Silkyara tunnel after almost 17 days.
It was a festival-like atmosphere on Tuesday evening in the villages of the five workers from the state as people distributed sweets, beat drums and danced to the tune of music.
The family members of the five were now relieved and had thanked the government and all agencies involved in the massive rescue operation.
"It gives me immense pleasure to learn about the successful rescue operation and I am very happy that our workers will return home safe," Patnaik said in a statement.
The state government has sent a team and the family members of the trapped Odia labourers to the site in Uttarkashi district, he said.

India's steel demand is expected to grow at a CAGR of 7 per cent to touch 190 Million Tonne (MT) level by 2030, according to a report by SteelMint India.
The demand will be largely fuelled by construction and infrastructure sectors, which contribute 60-65 per cent to the demand, the market research firm said.
In 2030, India's steel demand is projected to reach 190 MT based on a 7 per cent Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR).
"In the best case scenario, it can also reach 230 MT by 2030," the report titled 'India's Steel and Coking Coal Demand 2030' stated.
The demand will also be pushed by sectors like auto and engineering, and factors like population growth, growing urbanisation, various government initiatives will be its key drivers.
The demand is expected to touch 120 MT mark by 2023-end, and production will be at 136 MT, as per the report.
India's crude steel production is expected to be at 210 MT by 2030, 45 per cent higher from production levels of 2023.

The combined market valuation of four of the top-10 most-valued firms climbed Rs 65,671.35 crore last week, with Reliance Industries emerging as the biggest gainer.
Last week, the BSE benchmark climbed 175.31 points, or 0.26 per cent.
While Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and Bharti Airtel were the gainers, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, Hindustan Unilever, ITC, State Bank of India, and Bajaj Finance faced erosion in valuation.
The market valuation of Reliance Industries jumped Rs 26,014.36 crore to reach Rs 16,19,907.39 crore.
HDFC Bank added Rs 20,490.9 crore, taking its valuation to Rs 11,62,706.71 crore.
The market valuation of Bharti Airtel rose Rs 14,135.21 crore to Rs 5,46,720.84 crore , while that of ICICI Bank gained Rs 5,030.88 crore to Rs 6,51,285.29 crore.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Sunday said NEET was imposed on Tamil Nadu, "destroying" its medical infrastructure, and asserted that the state will get itself exempted, with public support.
Virtually addressing the 4th state conference of the Doctors' Association for Equality (DASE), Stalin recalled the many suicides of medical aspirants in the state allegedly over the National Entrance-cum-Eligibility Test, which was "imposed" on Tamil Nadu to "destroy the medical infrastructure" created in the state.
"We have embarked on a legal struggle to ensure NEET exemption. Some may say with arrogance, even some in (official) positions may say that NEET exemption is not possible. (But) NEET exemption is our aim and it will happen with public support," Stalin said.
An anti-NEET signature campaign initiated by the DMK's youth wing, student wing and medical wing has become a "people's movement," Stalin, who is also the ruling party president, added.
