Phillips Carbon Black's operating profit up by 42% in Q1 FY17

The healthy first quarter results are due to increased operational efficiency across all functions and deeper market penetration leading to higher capacity utilisation

Phillips Carbon Black Ltd (PCBL), an RP-Sanjiv Goenka Company, reported operating profit of Rs 68 crore for the first quarter of FY17, a 42 percent rise over corresponding quarter last year. The company has registered a 4 times increase in PAT at Rs 12 crore in Q1 2016-17.

The healthy first quarter results are due to increased operational efficiency across all functions and deeper market penetration leading to higher capacity utilisation. In addition, increased demand for its profitable specialty black business has assisted the company to register robust growth. The company develops these products at its R&D centre in Palej, Gujarat. "The market outlook continues to be encouraging," said Phillips Carbon Black in a press release
