Rajasthan Royals (RR) stand-in skipper Riyan Parag won the toss and opted to bowl against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their opening Indian Premier League 2025 match at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday.
 
RR picked Shimron Hetmyer, Maheesh Theekshana, Jofra Archer and Fazalhaq Farooqi as overseas players, while SRH handed debut to Ishan Kishan and Abhinav Manohar.
 
RR are the inaugural champions, while 2016 winner SRH came close to winning another title last year but finished runners-up.

Cummins was appointed SRH’s captain ahead of IPL 2024, which marked his maiden tenure as skipper in the IPL. He led SRH in 16 matches that season, out of which he won 9 and lost 7. He took the team to the final but eventually lost to KKR.
