Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women (RCB-W) won the toss and opted to field first against UP Warriorz Women (UPW-W) in their final league-stage encounter of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.

 

Mandhana confident of a strong outing

RCB captain Smriti Mandhana, reflecting on the team’s journey, said the players had a much-needed break and were eager to put in a complete performance.

 

"We would like to field first today. It was a good week off. We couldn't play the way we wanted to in Bengaluru, but we had a good team bonding session. We have played some good cricket in patches, and hopefully, we can put together a complete game tonight," Mandhana said at the toss.

 

 

RCB have made two changes to their playing XI, with Charlie Dean replacing Danielle Wyatt, and Sabbhineni Meghana coming in for Ekta Bisht. 

 

Warriorz aim for a winning farewell 

UP Warriorz, led by Deepti Sharma, have already been eliminated from the playoff race but are looking to end their campaign on a positive note.

 

"Today is a special day, but there is disappointment that we are not progressing further in the tournament. We have made two changes, picking our XI based on the conditions. The Super Over game against RCB last time was unforgettable, and it’s a good memory to carry into this match," Deepti remarked.

 

The Warriorz have two changes in their squad, with an eye on spin-friendly conditions at the Lucknow surface. 

Pitch report: Spinners set to dominate

The match is being played on pitch number 3, a red-soil surface that has previously assisted spinners.

 

"The spinners have done well at this venue by bowling at the right speeds. The short square boundaries (51m and 59m) may tempt batters, but they also offer wicket-taking opportunities for the bowlers. The presence of dew later in the match could make things tricky for the team batting first," observed experts Natalie Germanos and WV Raman.

 

New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr bagged a five-wicket haul in the previous match at this venue, reinforcing the importance of spinners in the contest.
