What are the National Film Awards?
The National Film Awards, which reward artistic and technical achievement in the nation's varied film industry, are the most prominent honours in Indian cinema. They were created in 1954 and are presented by the Indian President at a ceremony in New Delhi.
They are run by the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC). The three primary categories of the National Film Awards—Feature Films, Non-Feature Films, and Best Writing on Cinema—cover a broad range of categories.
The National Film Awards ceremony includes the presentation of India's highest cinematic distinction, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. A film figure receives this lifetime achievement award in recognition of their exceptional contribution to the expansion and advancement of Indian cinema. The awards are renowned for their objective, merit-based selection procedure, which is supervised by a national panel of well-known movie figures that the government appoints.
