Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday that various festivals being celebrated today and to be observed in the coming days are a pointer to the spirit of unity pervading India's diversity and asked people to continue to strengthen this feeling. Speaking in his monthly 'Mann Ki Baat' broadcast, Modi said various states are celebrating their traditional new year on Sunday and many others will be celebrating in the coming days. Other festivals, including Eid, are being celebrated, he said, greeting people on these festivals. He noted that summer vacation in schools will also fall in a few weeks and said the long days of summer are a time for students to develop new hobbies and polish their skills.
  As part of India's commitment to Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations, a specialised rescue team from the 50 (I) Para Brigade was deployed to Myanmar under Operation Brahma on Saturday after a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck the country on Friday. A 118-member team comprising medical and communication units air-landed at Naypyitaw International Airport in Myanmar on Saturday. The operation is being led by the Commander of the 50 (I) Para Brigade, according to the Indian Army.Upon arrival, the contingent was welcomed by the Indian Ambassador to Myanmar, alongside the Defence Attache and Naval Attache of Myanmar.Following the unloading of critical supplies and equipment, the team then relocated to a harbour area 45 minutes from the airport. The expansion of the operation began on Sunday morning with the reconnaissance party, consisting of one officer and one Junior Commissioned Officer, inducted into Mandalay, 160 miles north of the current base.
  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday visited Dr Hedgewar Smruti Mandir in Nagpur and paid tributes at the memorials dedicated to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar and second sarsanghchalak (chief) M S Golwalkar. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, former Sangh general secretary Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union minister Nitin Gadkari, both hailing from Nagpur, were present during Modi's visit to the Smruti Mandir in Reshimbagh, the administrative headquarters of the RSS.
    Yes Bank said it has received a demand notice of Rs 2,209 crore for the assessment year 2019-20. The said assessment year was reopened by the income-tax department in April 2023, Yes Bank said in a regulatory filing. The reassessment order was passed by the National Faceless Assessment Unit of the income-tax department on March 28, wherein no additional disallowances or additions were made, that is, the grounds on which the reassessment proceedings were initiated have been dropped, it said. The bank would pursue an appeal and rectification proceedings against the said reassessment order under the applicable law.  The BJP government in Delhi has adopted a zero tolerance stance against corruption, directing various departments to submit six monthly action taken reports. The Finance department recently issued a communication to various departments ensuring submission of half yearly reports on January 1 and July 1 each year on the steps taken to enhance transparency and efficiency of governance and delivery of services. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta in a meeting with various departments on Thursday also said that her government will maintain "zero tolerance" against corruption and pay special attention to prevent irregularities in the implementation of schemes.

Myanmar's earthquake death toll jumps to more than 1,000 as more bodies are recovered from rubble

The death toll from a powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar jumped to more than 1,000 as more bodies were pulled from the rubble of the scores of buildings that collapsed when it struck near the country's second-largest city. The country's military-led government said in a statement that 1,002 people have now been found dead and another 2,376 injured, with 30 others missing.

Landslide reported near Himachal's Manikaran Gurudrawa; 6 dead

A landslide triggered by a storm in Himachal's Kullu district on Sunday left six people dead and as many injured after a huge tree fell on several vehicles near Gurudwara Manikaran Sahib, officials said. Medical teams, police and revenue officials are present at the spot and coordinating rescue and relief operations, Kullu's Sub Divisional Magistrate Vikas Shukla told reporters at the spot.

Adani Green Energy Ltd operational RE capacity reaches 14,217.9 MW

Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) on Sunday operationalised 480.1MW renewable energy projects at Khavda in Gujarat which took its total operational RE capacity to 14,217.9 MW.
 
According to a filing by the company, AGEL through its various wholly-owned stepdown subsidiaries, commenced power generation from the projects on March 30.
 
With commissioning of these plants, AGEL's total operational renewable generation capacity has increased to 14,217.9 MW.
