India's forex reserves dropped $1.31 billion to $656.582 billion for the week ended November 22, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said.  India's economic growth slows to 5.4 per cent in July-September 2024 compared to 8.1 per cent in year-ago quarter, the data released by the National Statistical Office (NSO) on Friday showed.  The Enforcement Directorate on Friday said it seized Rs 1.3 crore in cash and "evidence" related to shell companies after it searched the former promoters of dairy major Kwality Ltd. as part of a Rs 1,400 crore alleged bank fraud linked money laundering case. Luxury cars and demat accounts valued at about Rs 6.5 crore have also been frozen under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The Supreme Court has asked a local court in Sambhal  not to pass any order in case related to survey of Mughal-era mosque there. "Peace and harmony must be ensured. We will keep this pending. We do not want anything to happen. We have to be absolutely neutral and ensure that nothing untoward happens," said Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna. The row started when a petition was filed in Sambhal by advocate Vishnu Shanker Jain and others. Jain was in the news for his involvement in the Gyanvapi Mosque and Krishna Janmabhoomi disputes.
The Enforcement Directorate has raided the premises of businessman Raj Kundra, the husband of actor Shilpa Shetty, and some others as part of a money laundering case linked to alleged distribution of pornographic content. Around 15 locations in Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh are being searched, the sources said.  The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the plea filed by the management committee of Sambhal's Shahi Jama Masjid which challenged the November 19 order of a district court, which directed a survey of the Mughal-era mosque. A bench headed by Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna is scheduled to hear the plea filed by the committee on November 29. The petition seeks an ex-parte stay on the operation of the November 19 order passed by the civil judge.Tension had been brewing in Sambhal since November 19 when the court-ordered survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid was carried out following claims that a Harihar temple previously stood at the site. Violence erupted on November 24 during a second survey as protesters gathered near the mosque and clashed with security personnel, leading to stone pelting and arson.  Ittehad-e-Millat Council chief Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan on Thursday blamed the administration and the police for the November 24 violence in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal district. "The police, administration and the court in Sambhal conspired and carried out the action. When a survey had already been done, what was the need for a second survey?" he asked.  The deep depression over the Bay of Bengal is "very likely" to cross the coast as a depression on November 30 between Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, the India Meteorological Department said on Friday.
