Ogilvy Appoints Devika Bulchandani Global Chief Executive Officer

Advertising, marketing and public relations giant Ogilvy has appointed Devika Bulchandani as its Global Chief Executive Officer, joining a growing group of Indian-origin business leaders at the helm of multinational corporations. Devika most recently served as Global President and CEO of Ogilvy North America. She takes the helm from Andy Main who is stepping down as Global CEO and will serve as a Senior Advisor until the end of the year, the company announced on Wednesday. In this role she will be responsible for all aspects of the creative network's business across 131 offices in 93 countries and spanning its Advertising, Public Relations, Experience, Consulting, and Health units, the company said in a press release. Devika is a champion of creativity who brings passion, purpose, and an uncompromising focus on generating impact to everything she does. Govt warns industry. advertising bodies to comply with surrogate ad norms

Concerned over surrogate advertisements on television and social media platforms, the government on Wednesday directed industry bodies CII, Ficci and Assocham and those related to advertising and broadcasting to ensure compliance of the existing guidelines. Otherwise, the government would take stern action against the violators by consumer protection regulator CCPA, it said. The guidelines for prevention of misleading advertisement ban surrogate advertisement or indirect advertisement of goods or services whose advertising is otherwise prohibited or restricted by law. The consumer affairs ministry said, "It has been noticed that these guidelines are not being strictly complied with by the concerned entities and the prohibited goods are still being advertised through surrogate goods and services."
