European startup Isar Aerospace to launch orbital rocket on 1st test flight

A private European aerospace company is set to make the first test flight of its orbital launch vehicle from Norway on Monday. The launch window for its Spectrum rocket from the island of Andoya in northern Norway is 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm local time, said Isar Aerospace, which is headquartered in Munich. The launch is subject to weather, safety and range infrastructure, and the company said it also could conduct the test flight later in the week. The 28-meter- (91-foot-) Spectrum is a two-stage launch vehicle designed for small and medium-sized satellites. The company largely rules out the possibility of the rocket reaching orbit on its first complete flight, saying it would consider a 30-second flight a success. Isar Aerospace aims to collect as much data and experience as possible on the first integrated test of all the systems on its in-house-developed launch vehicle. HAL, DIAT forge partnership to boost aerospace research, innovation

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) on Wednesday said its nodal training institute, HAL Management Academy (HMA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT) for collaboration in bridging the gap between industry and academia. The MoU with Pune based DIAT, an esteemed institution under DRDO, also aims at fostering cutting-edge research and driving technological advancements in the aerospace sector. Under this partnership, HAL executives will have the opportunity to pursue master's and Ph D programmes at DIAT, participate in specialised capsule modules on emerging technologies and engage in faculty and student exchange programmes, the company said in a release. The MoU also paves the way for joint conferences, seminars and collaborative research projects aimed at strengthening India's defence and aviation capabilities. Aerospace major Rolls-Royce on Monday said it intends to double its supply chain sourcing from India over the next five years. The company will seek to increase its sourcing of complex parts for advanced aerospace engines, naval propulsion systems, diesel engines and gas turbine engines as part of its plans to grow presence and participation in India's defence sector, Rolls-Royce said in a statement. Aequs to set up MRO facility this year, plans to hire 1,000 more people

Bullish on growth opportunities, contract manufacturer Aequs is set to strengthen its aerospace manufacturing capabilities, expand consumer segment footprint as well as set up an MRO this year. The company will also ramp up manpower by around 1,000 people in the financial year ending March 2026, according to its Chairman and CEO Aravind Melligeri. Aequs -- which provides vertically integrated product solutions for the aerospace and consumer goods industries, including high precision electronics components -- currently has around USD 120 million annual revenues.
