Axiscades, Europe's MBDA join hands to set up defence unit Bengaluru

Homegrown Axiscades on Friday said it has signed an agreement with European missile systems major MBDA to set up a defence facility in Karnataka. The pact has been inked through its wholly owned subsidiary Axiscades Aerospace and Technologies to set up the unit at the Aerospace Park near Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, Axiscades Technologies (Axiscades) said in a statement. "The facility will be equipped with test bench laboratories, infrastructure for missile launchers, specialized equipment, and trained technical personnel to support MBDA's advanced systems engineering requirements," it said. The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the ongoing Paris Air Show 2025 in France. Garuda Aerospace opens agri-drone indigenisation unit near Chennai

Drone manufacturer Garuda Aerospace has established an Agri-Drone Indigenisation facility near the city to design and manufacture advanced Unmanned Aerial Systems among many others, a top official said on Friday. The facility, a first-of-its-kind initiative, augments Garuda Aerospace's existing manufacturing unit located near Chennai and a major leap in advancing drone manufacturing. The products that would be produced at the facility include 7 subsystems (of Unmanned Aerial Systems), 33 parts among others. The production would be covered under the Centre's ambitious 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' campaign. Garuda Aerospace raises ₹100 cr in series B funding from Venture Catalysts

Ace cricketer Mahindra Singh Dhoni-backed aerospace startup Garuda Aerospace on Wednesday said it has raised Rs 100 crore in its series B funding round from Venture Catalysts. The fresh funds, raised at a valuation of USD 250 million, will significantly enhance the company's capabilities in producing drone systems, Garuda Aerospace said. The funds will also be allocated to scaling up the platform's current production facility and fast-tracking the completion of an R&D and testing centre dedicated to advanced defense drone design, it said. European startup Isar Aerospace to launch orbital rocket on 1st test flight

A private European aerospace company is set to make the first test flight of its orbital launch vehicle from Norway on Monday. The launch window for its Spectrum rocket from the island of Andoya in northern Norway is 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm local time, said Isar Aerospace, which is headquartered in Munich. The launch is subject to weather, safety and range infrastructure, and the company said it also could conduct the test flight later in the week. The 28-meter- (91-foot-) Spectrum is a two-stage launch vehicle designed for small and medium-sized satellites. The company largely rules out the possibility of the rocket reaching orbit on its first complete flight, saying it would consider a 30-second flight a success. Isar Aerospace aims to collect as much data and experience as possible on the first integrated test of all the systems on its in-house-developed launch vehicle. HAL, DIAT forge partnership to boost aerospace research, innovation

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) on Wednesday said its nodal training institute, HAL Management Academy (HMA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT) for collaboration in bridging the gap between industry and academia. The MoU with Pune based DIAT, an esteemed institution under DRDO, also aims at fostering cutting-edge research and driving technological advancements in the aerospace sector. Under this partnership, HAL executives will have the opportunity to pursue master's and Ph D programmes at DIAT, participate in specialised capsule modules on emerging technologies and engage in faculty and student exchange programmes, the company said in a release.
