Airtel detects 112 mn spam calls in Tamil Nadu using AI-powered system

Bharti-Airtel has identified over 112 million potential spam calls and 3 million spam short messaging services in Tamil Nadu in the last 12 days of the launch of its AI powered spam detection system, a company official said. The telecom major has established Artificial Intelligence powered algorithm to identify classify calls and SMS as 'suspected spam' and it analyses various parameters based on the customers' usage pattern. By cross-referencing this information against known spam patterns, the system flags suspected spam calls and SMS accurately. "In today's digital landscape spam calls and suspicious texts have become a major concern for customers. To address this, Airtel introduced an innovative AI-powered solution integrated into the Airtel ecosystem. Airtel CEO pens note on spam-fighting network; says crackdown will continue

Bharti Airtel is combating the "growing menace" of cyber frauds with network intelligence and Al to analyse patterns and accurately identify spammers, CEO Gopal Vittal said as he asked customers to be vigilant on 'suspected spam' indicator, now available. The regulator TRAI and the industry have upped the ante to crack down on the spam menace, and the regulator's new missive on whitelisted (approved) URLs has also come into effect from October 1. An HDFC Bank spokesperson, in response to a specific query, told PTI that the bank is "compliant as of today" with norms, and does not expect any difficulties. Meanwhile, Vittal penned a note to subscribers promising that Airtel will continue to work on identifying verified scammers and permanently blocking them from its network. The impact of mobile phone service tariff hike was evident in July with Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea reporting loss of customer base, which resulted in an overall decline in telecom subscribers in the country. Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea increased their mobile service plan rates in the range of 10-27 per cent in the first week of July. Airtel and Vodafone Idea have more than doubled their entry-level mobile rates in the last 2-3 years to Rs 199 that comes with 28 days validity. State-run BSNL was the only player that added new subscribers and led the market in terms of new net customer addition, according to a monthly subscribers report released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India on Friday. According to the report, BSNL added over 2.94 million mobile subscribers in July. Bharti Airtel lost 1.69 million mobile subscribers which was highest among its peers. Combined value of top 75 brands up 19% to $450.5 bn, TCS tops chart: Report

The combined valuation of India's top 75 valuable brands has gone up at an "impressive growth" rate of 19 per cent to USD 450.5 billion, according to the Kantar BrandZ report. India's leading IT firm TCS remained the most valuable brand for the third straight year, folllowed by HDFC Bank, Airtel, Infosys and SBI, the report said. "With a brand value of USD 49.7 billion, TCS has seen a 16 per cent rise versus last year, driven by investments in innovation, particularly in AI and digital transformation," it said. Brands across business sectors have fuelled the growth, with 54 brands boosting their brand value over the past year, according to the Kantar BrandZ MostValuable Indian Brands Report. "This impressive growth outpaces most other BrandZ rankings globally and closely mirrors the 20 per cent increase seen in the Global Top 100," it said. Telecom operator Bharti Airtel, MediaTek and Nokia have achieved 300 megabits per second upload speed on a 5G network during a recently concluded trial, a joint statement said on Monday. The trial comprised the combined use of a set of mid-band spectrums, utilising the latest generation chipset. "The trial aimed at maximising the uplink performance was conducted at Airtel's tech lab and achieved uplink speeds of 300 Mbps, setting a new benchmark in 5G network performance.
