20 cops injured during stone pelting in Chandrababu Naidu's rally in Andhra

At least 20 police personnel and several supporters of TDP as well as the ruling YSRCP were injured in stone pelting and arson during N Chandrababu Naidu's tour of the district on Friday, police said. Thirteen of the policemen were severely injured and are undergoing treatment at Chittoor town government hospital. "The rest of the policemen (seven) are doing fine but were injured by the stones hurled at them. The situation is under control now and I think we don't need to go for (imposing prohibitory orders under) CrPc 144 Section as of now, Chittoor district superintendent of police Y Rishant Reddy told PTI late in the night. Ensure error-free electoral rolls, ECI delegation to Andhra officials

An Election Commission of India (ECI) delegation has directed all the 26 district Collectors/district election officers in Andhra Pradesh to ensure inclusive and error-free electoral rolls by the end of Special Summary Revision 2024 process. The delegation, led by Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Dharmendra Sharma issued these guidelines at the end of a two-day meeting here. Mondelez India to expand its manufacturing plant in Andhra Pradesh

Snack company Mondelez India is expanding its manufacturing plant's capacity at Sri City in Tirupati district and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy virtually took part in the foundation stone-laying ceremony on Tuesday. With an investment of Rs 1,600 crore, this project, first announced during the Global Investors Summit (GIS) in Visakhapatnam is taking off now. AP CM Reddy disburses Rs 561 crore under 'Jagananna Thodu' scheme

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday disbursed Rs 561 crore to 5.1 lakh small and marginal traders and artisans under the 'Jagananna Thodu' scheme, which also included Rs 11 crore interest subvention component. He disbursed these funds at his camp office for the fourth year at a stretch under the first tranche for this year. "Nowhere in the country a programme like this, which benefits lakhs of people is happening," said Reddy. 'Jagananna Thodu' aims to shield petty traders and traditional artisans from the clutches of loan sharks for their daily working capital needs, empowering them to avoid usurious interest rates. The scheme offers Rs 10,000 interest-free loan per annum and also rewards prompt repayments by adding another Rs 1,000 to the loan amount each year, which is capped at Rs 13,000. Andhra Pradesh records Rs 7,653 cr GST revenue in Q1 of 2023-24: Officials

Andhra Pradesh recorded GST revenue of Rs 7,653 crore in the first quarter of financial year 2023-24, an increase of 24 per cent over the corresponding quarter in 2022-23, officials said. They apprised Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy regarding this income during a review meeting on revenue generating departments, noting that this GST revenue is excluding compensation. Similarly, income from the registration department rose to Rs 2,794 crore until July 15 compared to Rs 2,292 crore generated in the previous fiscal, according to a press release issued by the state government on Monday. Electronics maker Elista on Thursday said it will invest Rs 100 crore in Andhra Pradesh to set up a manufacturing unit for Smart LED TVs, smartwatches, audio speakers, and large appliances. The company has signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to set up its second manufacturing plant in the state, the company said in a statement. Earlier, Elista had announced setting up a 1.32 lakh square feet facility in Andhra Pradesh with an investment of Rs 250 crore in March 2023. The second plant, which is scheduled to be operational in December 2024, would help Elista's foray into the smartwatch segment. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday laid the foundation stones for three national highway (NH) projects worth Rs 2,900 crore at Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday.
