LS elections: PM Modi on 'One nation, One leader' mission, says Kejriwal

A day after his release on interim bail, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched a blistering attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging he was on a "One nation, One leader" mission to impose "dictatorship" by putting all leaders from opposition behind bars and "politically finishing off" those in the BJP. Addressing a gathering at the AAP headquarters here on Saturday, the party supremo said that PM Modi is asking for votes for Union Home Minister Amit Shah, claiming that the latter will be Modi's successor after he "retires" on turning 75. He asserted that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will be part of the next government at the Centre and will get full statehood for Delhi. "In the last 20 hours after release from jail, I talked to poll experts and people, and got to know the BJP is not going to form the government," Kejriwal said. Ahead of restarting his election campaign, Kejriwal along with his wife Sunita and Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann offered prayers at the Hanu

People like Kejriwal, Sisodia, Jain never welcome in BJP: Anurag Thakur

Amid a recent influx of opposition politicians into the BJP, Union minister Anurag Thakur said that while the party continues to attract rivals, it will never accept Aam Aadmi Party leaders Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain, who are facing serious charges of corruption. Thakur said people of the country have seen his alleged corruption and will not support him anymore as he stands exposed before them now. Kejriwal was granted bail by the Supreme Court and came out of Tihar Jail on Friday evening and sought people's ...

Kejriwal only out on bail, remains main culprit in liquor 'scam': Delhi BJP

Getting interim bail does not mean Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was declared innocent in the alleged multi-crore liquor scam, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said on Friday. His remark came after the Supreme Court on Friday granted interim bail to Kejriwal till June 1 for campaigning in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. Sachdeva said that while the BJP respects the top court's decision, he hit out at the Aam Aadmi Party for trying to portray that Kejriwal was acquitted. "Sometimes even criminals are released on parole, and this is a legal process, so it does not prove that Kejriwal, who was the main culprit in the multi-crore liquor scam, is innocent today," he said. AAP leaders are once again misleading the people of Delhi and betraying them, he said. "AAP has no local issues for the elections because as a state government, they have done nothing in the last 10 years, so they created a stir in the name of Kejriwal being jailed and are now trying to create a deceptive ...

BJP handed INDIA bloc victory 'on platter' by jailing Kejriwal, says Rai

Aam Aadmi Party's Delhi Convenor Gopal Rai on Thursday alleged that by putting Arvind Kejriwal in jail in a "fake case," BJP has ensured its defeat in the national capital. The party on Thursday held a Sankalp Sabha under the "Jail Ka Jawab Vote Se" campaign in Malviya Nagar Assembly of the New Delhi Lok Sabha constituency. Rai said the results of the elections will come on June 4 and on that day, good days will return for the people of the country and Modi will be thrown out of power. The BJP won previous two Lok Sabha elections because the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party contested separately, which divided votes, he said. "This time, the first guarantee of Somnath Bharti's victory is his work, and the second guarantee is contesting elections on behalf of the INDIA bloc. This time not a single vote will be divided," he said. Rai said the third guarantee of victory of the alliance was given by the BJP on a platter when it put Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in jail. "They h

'Electioneering not fundamental right': ED opposes interim bail to Kejriwal

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday opposed in the Supreme Court the grant of interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a money-laundering case linked to the alleged excise policy scam, saying the right to campaign in elections is neither fundamental nor constitutional. In a fresh affidavit filed in the top court, the ED said no political leader has ever been granted interim bail for campaigning even if he is not contesting polls. "It is relevant to note that the right to campaign for an election is neither a fundamental right nor a constitutional right and not even a legal right," the agency said. It added that to its knowledge, "no political leader has been granted interim bail for campaigning even though he is not the contesting candidate. Even a contesting candidate is not granted interim bail if he is in custody for his own campaigning". People will vote to end BJP's 'dictatorship, atrocities', says Atishi

Delhi Minister Atishi on Wednesday said the public will vote to "end dictatorship and atrocities of the BJP" and to get their Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal out of jail on May 25. Atishi, along with AAP and INDIA bloc candidate from the South Delhi Lok Sabha seat Sahiram Pehalwan, led a 'pad yatra' (foot march) in Govindpuri, Kalkaji, as part of the 'Jail ka Jawab Vote se' campaign. During the march, Atishi said the BJP has forgotten that Kejriwal is not just the chief minister, "he is the son and brother of the people of Delhi." Atishi asserted the BJP has made a "huge mistake" by arresting Delhi's "popular chief minister". Modi ji has arrested one Kejriwal, but today thousands of Kejriwals have come out from every street and 'mohallas' (locality) of Delhi to give a befitting reply. By arresting Shri Arvind Kejriwal, they have written 'the end' of their own dictatorship. Delhi HC dismisses PIL seeking facilities for CM Kejriwal in jail

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday dismissed with Rs 1 lakh costs a public interest litigation by a lawyer seeking appropriate arrangements for Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to run the government from jail. The petitioner also sought to restrain Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva from exerting any "undue pressure" for resignation of Kejriwal. A bench headed by Acting Chief Justice Manmohan observed that since the AAP leader has already approached the Supreme Court against his arrest, "no orders were called for" with regard to providing him any facilities while in judicial custody. The bench, also comprising Justice Manmeet PS Arora, further said the court cannot impose censorship on the media or stop political rivals from making statements. "Do we impose emergency? We impose censorship? We impose martial law? How do we gag the press? The political rivals?" the court said. "Keep bank draft of Rs 1 lakh ready," the court told the petitioner. The petitioner argued that although i
