Ashoka Buildcon on Thursday said it has acquired a majority stake in Jaora Nayagaon Toll Road Company Private Limited (JTCL) for Rs 166 crore. Ashoka Buildcon, in a regulatory filing, said the acquisition is pursuant to the securities purchase agreement with Macquarie SBI Infrastructure Investments Pte Limited and SBI Macquarie Infrastructure Trust (collectively 'investors') for the acquisition of all investments of the investors in JTCL. "Ashoka Buildcon's subsidiary Viva Highways Limited has today acquired 7,46,20,000 equity shares of Rs 10 each, held by the investors in JTCL, at a consideration of Rs 1,66,59,93,151. "In view of the above acquisition by VHL, the shareholding of the Company in JTCL through its subsidiaries viz VHL & ACL has increased to 61.17 per cent of the paid-up share capital of JTCL," it said. The Competition Commission of India (CCI) on Tuesday approved Ashoka Buildcon's proposal to acquire remaining 34 per cent stake in Ashoka Concessions Ltd. Currently, Ashoka Buildcon Ltd (ABL) owns a 66 per cent holding in Ashoka Concessions Ltd (ACL). After the CCI's approval, ACL will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ashoka Buildcon. The proposed combination relates to the acquisition of 34 per cent equity shareholding of Ashoka Concessions by Ashoka Buildcon and certain convertible instruments of ACL by ABL and Viva Highways, CCI said. Construction engineering company Ashoka Buildcon plans to invest Rs 9,000 crore in setting up a green hydrogen plant in Bihar, its COO-Renewable Energy Mayank Sharma said Friday. The company signed a memorandum of understanding with the state government, committing to investing in the plant, during the Bihar Business Connect 2024. The Maharashtra-based firm is in highway construction, power distribution and solar projects. Sharma said the company will set up a 1,250 MW solar project and use the clean electricity to produce green hydrogen by splitting water. "The first phase of the plant is being planned at Begusarai (in Bihar)," he said. Green hydrogen is the cleanest known source of energy, which produces just water from being burnt. Sharma said the first phase of the project will take 1.5-2 years to commission from the date of receiving all clearances. The second phase will follow thereafter.
