Maruti Suzuki launches multi purpose vehicle Invicto, starts at Rs 24 lakh

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Wednesday launched the new Invicto at introductory prices ranging from Rs 24.8-Rs 28.4 lakh as it looks to gain foothold in the premium three-row multi purpose vehicle segment. The company has launched Invicto in three variants and expects the model to further strengthen its presence in the overall MPV segment where it commands around 50 per cent market share already. The country's largest carmaker will source the strong hybrid model from Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) as part of a global collaboration between Toyota and Suzuki. TKM already sells Innova HyCross in the domestic market and the same would be supplied to MSI with certain changes in design and other elements. Audi India posts 97% jump in sales at 3,474 units in first half of 2023

German luxury car manufacturer Audi on Monday reported a 97 per cent jump in retail sales in India at 3,474 units in the first half of 2023, as compared to the same period last year. The company had sold 1,765 units in the January to June period in 2022, Audi India said in a statement. "Our performance in the first half of the year, despite supply challenges and rising input costs has laid the foundation for a successful second half of the year," Audi India Head Balbir Singh Dhillon said. He further said, "our volume models Audi Q3, Audi Q3 Sportback, Audi Q5, Audi A4 and Audi A6 are seeing strong demand. Tata Motors to hike prices of PVs from July 17 to offset input costs

Tata Motors on Monday said it will hike prices of its passenger vehicles with effect from July 17. The company will increase prices of its passenger vehicles (including EVs) by an average of 0.6 per cent across models and variants, Tata Motors said in a statement. The price increase is to offset the residual impact of past input costs, it added. The auto major noted that it will offer price protection to bookings made up to July 16, 2023 and deliveries up to July 31, 2023. Tata Motors sells a range of passenger vehicles including Punch, Nexon and Harrier.

Ashok Leyland June total sales up 5% at 15,221 units, CV sales jump 10%

Commercial vehicles maker Ashok Leyland on Monday reported a 5 per cent rise in total vehicle sales in June at 15,221 units. In the year-ago period, total vehicle sales of the company stood at 14,531 units. Total domestic sales were higher by 7 per cent at 14,363 units as against 13,469 units a year ago, the company said in a statement. Domestic medium and heavy commercial vehicle sales were at 9,274 units as compared to 8,399 units in June last year, a growth of 10 per cent, it added. Sales of light commercial vehicles in the domestic market marginally increased to 5,089 units from 5,070 units in June 2022, the company said.

Honda Cars' domestic wholesales declines by 35% to 5,080 units in June

Honda Cars India on Saturday said its domestic wholesales declined by 35 per cent to 5,080 units in June. The automaker sold 7,834 units in the domestic market in June 2022. Exports declined to 2,112 units last month from 2,502 units in June last year. "Our sales in June are in line with our projections and met our planned targets," Honda Cars India Director (Marketing and Sales) Yuichi Murata said in a statement. The company will soon commence the pre-launch booking for Elevate, and it will be launched during the festive season, he added.

Maruti Suzuki reports 2% rise in retail sales at 159,418 units in June

The country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Saturday reported 2 per cent increase in total wholesales at 1,59,418 units in June. The company had dispatched 1,55,857 units to dealers in June 2022, MSI said in a statement. Last month, the company's domestic passenger vehicle sales rose 8 per cent to 1,33,027 units as against 1,22,685 units in the year-ago period, it added. Sales of mini cars, comprising Alto and S-Presso, fell marginally to 14,054 units as compared with 14,442 units in the same month last year. Similarly, sales in the compact segment, including models such as Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno and Dzire, slumped 17 per cent to 64,471 units as against 77,746 cars in June 2022. Sales of mid-sized sedan Ciaz increased to 1,744 units as compared with 1,507 units in June last year. Toyota Kirloskar reports 19% rise in retail sales at 19,608 units in June

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) on Saturday said its wholesales increased 19 per cent to 19,608 units in June as compared with 16,512 units in the year ago period. Domestic dispatches stood at 18,237 units while overseas shipments rose to 1,371 units last month. "Ever since the launch of Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Innova Hycross, we are witnessing continued high acceptance by our customers," TKM Vice President (Sales and Strategic Marketing) Atul Sood said in a statement. These along with a consistent performance by the entire product portfolio Camry Hybrid, Fortuner, Legender, Vellfire, Glanza and the newly introduced Hilux, are enabling the company to sustain the positive performance, he added. MG Motor India reports 14% increase in retail sales at 5,125 units in June

MG Motor India on Saturday reported 14 per cent increase in retail sales at 5,125 units in June 2023 as compared to the same month last year. The company had posted a retail sales of 4,504 units in June 2022, MG Motor India said in a statement. "Supplies were disrupted in the wake of cyclone Biparjoy though customer demand should now gain momentum following the monsoon as India gears up for a long festive season," it said. In the second quarter (April-June) of 2023 , the company said its sales were at 14,682 units as against 10,519 units in the year-ago period, a growth of 40 per cent.

Lexus to hike price of ES 300h by 2% from July to offset input costs rise

Luxury carmaker Lexus India on Friday said it will increase prices of ES 300h sedan range by up to 2 per cent from next month in order to offset rise in input costs. In a statement, Lexus India President Naveen Soni said the current circumstances require the automaker to raise prices of the model. "As a part of our commitment to excellence and despite our best efforts to mitigate the effects, the current circumstances require us to raise the prices for the Lexus ES 300h luxury sedan," he noted. Lexus India would like to assure its valued customers that the company is trying its best to minimise such hikes, against various cost pressures, Soni said. India produces 27 mn vehicles, valued at $108-bn in FY23: Report

The Indian automobile industry produced a whopping 2.7 crore vehicles across segments and types, worth around USD 108-billion (Rs 8.7-lakh crore) in FY23, with passenger vehicle segment accounting for 57 per cent at Rs 5-lakh crore in the total value, a report said on Wednesday.
