Bangladesh pacer Ebadot Hossain was on Tuesday ruled out of the upcoming Asia Cup due to a knee injury sustained during the ODI series against Afghanistan last month. Ebadot, who was named in the 17-member squad 10 days ago, failed to recover within the designated time-frame and has been replaced by uncapped 20-year-old pacer Tanzim Hasan. It remains to be seen whether the 29-year-old will be able to regain fitness in time for the ODI World Cup in India from October 5. "Ebadot had undergone six weeks of rehab following the injury," BCB's chief sports physician Dr Debashis Chowdhury was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo. "We have had multiple MRIs done during this time and the reports suggest that his ACL is still a concern and requires further management. Therefore, he misses out on the Asia Cup. World Cup: New Zealand to tour Bangladesh for three ODIs for preparations

New Zealand will tour Bangladesh for the first time in 10 years, when they travel to the country for a split ODI and Test series in September and November. The three-match ODI series will be the dress rehearsal for the two teams ahead of the World Cup in India. The World Cup begins with last edition's runners-up New Zealand taking on defending champions England in Ahmedabad in a repeat of the 2019 final. Bangladesh begin their World Cup journey against Afghanistan on October 7 in Dharamsala. As per the itinerary unveiled by the Bangladesh Cricket Board on Thursday, the tour is set to commence on September 21. Opener Tanzid Hasan received his first call-up to the national team as the Bangladesh Cricket Board announced a 17-member squad for the Asia Cup on Saturday. He will be considered along with Mohammad Naim as one of the two opening spots vacated by Tamim Iqbal after Tamim was ruled out of the Asia Cup due to a back njury. Tanzid has been brilliant in the last couple of years and has played tremendously well in the recently concluded Emerging Asia Cup, BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin said. Bangladesh not fazed by ''unknown'' Afghanistan ahead of one-off Test

Bangladesh players have been urged to forget about the mystery Afghanistan side and focus on their strengths for their one-off Test starting on Wednesday.
